Calling outdoor women

There are not a lot of women testing, reviewing and writing about outdoor gear in India. Help us correct this imbalance. We at inditramp are looking for a part time gear tester to help us test women trekking gear. If you are reading this, or you know someone who fits this profile, drop us a line at contact(at)inditramp.com

In the meantime read this excellent editorial by Kristin Hostetter.

Support Totem Pole

A film documenting Paul Pritchard and the Totem Pole, the famous sea stack in Tasmania, is in the pipeline. A crowdfunding campaign for this project has now been launched.

Support the campaign here.

In 1998 Paul Pritchard was abseiling into climb the Totem Pole in Tasmania when he dislodged a rock with his rope that hit him on the head, leaving him a severe head injury that he was lucky to survive. The aftermath of the accident left him with hemiplegia, which means he has little feeling or movement in the right side of this body. Despite this disability, Paul’s continued to live a life filled with adventure. Eighteen years later Paul returns to the Totem Pole to find out if he has recovered enough to finish the climb.

An introduction to lead belaying

As a lead belayer, you have someone else's life in your hands. If you let go while your partner is hanging on the rope or falling, they will fall to the ground and will be injured or die.

Learn the technique.
