Tragedy at Ogre 2 ?

The search and rescue effort to locate Scott Adamson and Kyle Dumpster on Ogre 2 a.k.a Baintha Brakk II have been called off on 3rd September. Scott and Kyle are two of America’s most talented alpinists. They were last spotted by their Pakistani cook on Sunday, August 21 half-way up the face.

Garud Shikhar army expedition

A trekking expedition ‘Garud Shikhar’ was flagged off by Commander, Double Victory Brigade, Brig Sandeep Singh, from Beas Military Station. The team, comprising 10 members, is led by Captain Alexraj VS of Guards.

The trek is scheduled in the arduous terrain of Himachal with the team scaling various mountainous features, including Bhabha Pass, which is at the height of 17,000 feet. The team members will be self contained for the duration of the expedition. They will traverse 144 km in 10 days. Read more.

Canara Trail - India’s longest trekking trail (Update)

A section of the Great Canara Trail, acclaimed as the longest trekking route in India, will be open to the public by November. The stretch of about 100km between Ulavi and Castle Rock, the last leg of the trail, will be open for trekking enthusiasts. This leg of the trail entirely falls in the forests of Kali Tiger Reserve. The Great Canara Trail is a trekking path of 288km stretching between Jog waterfalls and Castle Rock waterfall near Karnataka-Goa border and will take 20 days to complete. The entire stretch will have 27 halting sites and is expected to be opened in 2017-18.

Fraud on Everest confirmed

Maharashtra Police constables Tarkeshwari and Dinesh Rathod’s ‘Everest conquest’ has now been certified a Himalayan hoax. On August 30, the Nepal Ministry of Tourism, the nodal agency for the Everest expedition, to which proofs of a summit climb are submitted, annulled the certificate it had issued to the Rathods, apart from banning them for 10 years from any Nepal expedition. Read More.

Satyarup Siddhantha (2) had charged that Dinesh Chandrakant Rathod (3) and his wife Tarkeshwari Chandrakant Bhelerao (4) morphed his photographs (1 & 2), taken on the top of Mt Everest, and submitted to Nepal’s Department of Tourism to get the Everest summit certificates.
